Typically, if the pain is mild and if the doctor suspects that there are no other serious underlying medical conditions, they can diagnose plantar fasciitis simply by doing some physical examination. The doctor will check the feet for swelling and tenderness, moving the foot to determine how the pain is triggered.
For mild plantar fasciitis, the treatments may include some exercises, medications, or some lifestyle modifications. For more serious cases, the doctor may have to request you to undergo ultrasound or xray. This is especially true if they suspect some type of facture or malignancies. For most cases, traditional methods of pain management are enough. For some, surgery may have to be considered.
