Dr. Gerdes, a board certified Chiropractor for 16 years, lives and practices in private practice in Raleigh, NC. He is the clinic director and president of Carolina ChiroCare and Rehab. He is a graduate of Palmer College, the oldest and most recognized chiropractic college in the world.
Dr. Gerdes is certified through the courts in North Carolina and Wake County as an expert witness in Chiropractic Medicine. He has testified in many court cases on the utilization of chiropractic medicine. He is one of a small number of Chiropractors nationwide who holds advanced certification through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego.
Voted best in the region twice by Talk Of The Town and Open Care. He specializes in providing gentle, safe, chiropractic care for a variety of musculoskeletal health conditions.
He has treated thousands of patients with conditions ranging from back and neck pain, whiplash to fibromyalgia, sciatica to herniated discs to nerve pain, carpal tunnel syndrom, TMJD and headaches.
Throughout his career has treated both professional and collegiate athletes, mixed martial arts fighters, triathletes, as well as the weekend warriors like himself. He has studied extensively under the American College of Sports Medicine, to provide athletes with rehabilitative care and enhanced performance.
Dr. Gerdes's experience working in an urgent care medical facility gave him first-hand experience on the treatment of acute trauma and injury following an auto accident.
He has obtained a certificate of training in manipulation under anesthesia an advanced procedure performed in a hospital or outpatient surgery center.
He has taken post-doctoral courses in Radiology and Neurology from Harvard Medical School and The University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Academy of Chiropractic Post-Doctoral Division.
He enjoys treating complex and difficult conditions (such as fibromyalgia, herniated discs, neuropathy, chronic pain syndrome, chronic headaches, chronic arthritis pain, chronic nerve pain, post-surgical pain) and complex cases where prior treatments such as surgery, physical therapy, or pain management procedures that have failed.
He enjoys furthering his post-doctorate education to provide the best possible updated care to his patients.
He has completed certification from The Spine Research Institute in San Diego on Whiplash and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. In 2019 he completed advanced certification from The Spine Research Institute in San Diego.
He is the author of Getting Relief "A Consumer's Guide to Relieving Neck and Back Pain at Home" © 2015 and co-author of Understanding Whiplash: A Car Accident Victim's Health Guide © 2015.
He is less than 3% of Chiropractic Physicians worldwide who have taken the Chiro-Trust pledge. He is a member of The American Academy of Pain Management.
Patient's routinely drive 3-4 hours from across the state of North Carolina and from neighboring states for Dr. Gerdes's specialized techniques and caring bedside manner.
In his free time, he enjoys community volunteer work through his local Kiwanis club, live jazz concerts, traveling, fishing, hiking, summer days at Eno River State Park, Lake Jordan, and spending quality time with his wife, sons (Dillon) (Landon), and Shih Tzu (Baxter Bear).
